About Ready Set China
Ready Set China is a small, independent project that makes free tools for people travelling to mainland China — a visa-free checker, an eSIM picker, payment-setup and arrival-card guides, high-speed-rail routes and a trip planner. No sign-up, no fluff.
Why it exists
Most China travel information online is out of date, or written for search engines rather than travellers. China's entry rules move fast — the visa-free list keeps expanding, and the arrival card went digital in late 2025. Every tool here is checked against official government sources and stamped with the date it was last verified, so you can see exactly how current it is before you rely on it.
Who runs it
Ready Set China is built and maintained by Henry Chen — one person, working from inside mainland China. No team, no investors, no call centre. Being on the ground here is the point: the site is built to load and work in mainland China without a VPN, so the tools still work the moment you land.
How it stays free
The tools are free to use. Some pages link to partners — eSIMs, train tickets, travel insurance — and those links are clearly labelled; if you buy through one, Ready Set China may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's what keeps the tools free. The facts come from the dated official sources shown on each page, never from who pays a commission.
What we don't do
Ready Set China is an information site — not a travel agency and not a booking agent. We never book, sell or reserve travel on your behalf; for tickets and reservations we point you to the official channels. Nothing here is legal or medical advice, and we stay out of politics and sensitive topics — just the practical business of getting you ready to go.
